At first, I thought that getting older was causing my stubborn weight gain. But honestly… it didn’t have ANYTHING to do with age. I’m in better shape now at 40 than I’ve ever been.

Like I said, I had tried EVERYTHING to lose weight in the past. I walked, jogged, ran, dieted, took supplements and pills, shakes and protein. I’d spend an hour a day when my husband came home from work.

After months of not seeing ANY results with the workouts and eating salads… I hit a breaking point. I was SO mad that I wasn’t seeing any results, part of me felt like giving up.

I did, in a way. I turned to junk food for comfort. When my hubby went to bed at night, I’d take out the chips or the cookies and quickly eat them before he or the kids woke up. I’d feel a little bit of joy from junk food… but soon the joy would turn to disgust and shame.

But in a way, part of me didn’t even know if it mattered anymore. Like I mentioned, my husband stopped showing me the affection he used to. He stopped telling me how pretty I was and how great I looked.

This is when fear and anxiety would wash over me. I was always worried he’d leave me for a younger, skinnier, more attractive woman. So I continued using food as an emotional crutch.

Crohn’s Disease: There is a connection between psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease. In a recent study of women with psoriasis, 10 percent developed a form of inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s Disease or ulcerative colitis.

Diabetes: People with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are at an increased risk for type 2 diabetes, according to a 2012 study. People with severe psoriasis, in particular, are 30 percent more likely to have type 2 diabetes.

Depression: Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis can cause considerable emotional distress for people, including low self-esteem, and an increased chance of mood disorders, such as depression.

Metabolic Syndrome: There is a significant association between psoriatic disease and metabolic syndrome – a cluster of conditions that include heart disease, abdominal obesity and high blood pressure. A national sample of more than 6,500 people found that 40 percent of those with psoriasis had metabolic syndrome, compared with just 23 percent of the general population. More women with psoriasis had metabolic syndrome than men.

Obesity: Researchers have known for some time that people with psoriatic disease are more likely to be obese than the normal population. Recent studies continue to examine the relationship between the two. One study showed that children with psoriasis were at much greater risk of being obese, while another showed being overweight at 18 increased the risk of developing psoriatic arthritis.

Osteoporosis: A study of people with psoriatic disease showed that 60 percent of patients had osteopenia, an early form of the bone disease, osteoporosis, and 18 percent had progressed to osteoporosis.

Uveitis: Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis raise your risk of developing uveitis, an inflammatory disease of the eye. About 7 percent of people with psoriatic arthritis will develop uveitis, according to recent studies.

Liver Disease: People with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis may be at greater risk for developing a liver condition called nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), according to recently published studies.

Cancer: A number of studies have found that people with psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis have an increased risk of certain types of cancer, such as lymphoma and nonmelanoma skin cancer.

Cardiovascular Disease: Research continues to link psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis with an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, especially in people with severe psoriasis. People with severe psoriasis are 58 percent more likely to have a major cardiac event and 43 percent more likely to have a stroke, according to one study.

When I began my fatloss journey I had no idea what was healthy. Big food companies market themselves to us to make us think their food is good for us. Not only that, but I’m not a huge cook. My recipes have to be simple and require basic ingredients. I want the results but I want to spend my time running my business, working out and playing with my dog – not cooking. So I created this cookbook with a busy gal in mind. The recipes are easy and delicious and they also include all of the macros for each meal to save you even more time in tracking.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Not only does it get your metabolism revved up, but it also sets a tone for your entire day. With recipes for simple smoothies or on-the-go muffins, you can begin your day in a healthy way!

So many people trip up and don’t eat snacks and then binge at the end of the day or eat the wrong things. Snacks play a huge role in long term healthy eating and can make or break you. Let these simple snacks fuel your fat burning machine.

I get it. You need to be able to cook something your whole family will eat – not two meals. With things like veggie stuffed meatballs and meatzza you can share these with the pickiest eaters, or keep them for yourself to have as leftovers.

The recipes in this cookbook are super easy. I make a couple each week to bring for lunch or have for dinner since I am a busy teacher and coach. I like how all of the ingredients are easy to find or I typically have them on hand and how little time I have to spend in the kitchen.

Having the macros counted out for me made my life so simple. I always had an idea of what was healthy but wasn’t but timing my carbs around my workouts and pairing protein with carbs has helped me so much with losing the last few pounds.

Calories in vs calories out does play a role in fatloss. To lose fat you do want to create a slight calorie deficit through exercise, but you also need to fuel your body properly.

Protein and carbohydrates help you build muscle which in turn helps you lose more fat. Fat is important to keep hormones balanced and to keep your body well fueled throughout the day.

Eating clean, whole foods will allow your body to feel great but having the right amount of calories and the right macronutrients and different times can play a very helpful role as well.

I haven’t always been fit – it’s been a 10+ year journey to get to where I am and I want to help you achieve your goals as well!

A.Simply put, clean eating. Whole foods that come fro the earth like veggies, meats, fruits, nuts, seeds and some grains. Many are Paleo, but not all.

A.Most are. However for recipes that include oats, for example, you could easily swap them for gluten free oats or peanut butter for almond butter.

A.Unfortunately no. Most of the recipes do include animal based foods.

A.There are some recipes that take literally 5 minutes (how long does it take to fry an egg?) and some recipes that include slicing a lot of veggies and could take an hour. But usually the prep work in my recipes is quick, around 15 minutes, then there may be baking time, but you can workout then! Bottom line, I don’t like to cook so the recipes are simple.

A.I actually had that in mind when creating the recipes, especially the lunches and dinners. All of the meals are things that are tasty that they should be completely family-friendly meals and the portions are large enough to feed four.

A.That’s perfect because you can batch cook a few of the recipes each week to bring with you to work for lunch or have as a leftover for dinner.

A.Optimally no. I cannot speak for every grocery store, but most I’ve been to in the last few years have a decent selection of things like almond meal and coconut flour. But those are really the most obscure ingredients you will see in this cookbook. Most of the ingredients are produce and meat.

A.Yes. In the beginning of the meal planning guide I teach you how to calculate the number of calories you burn in a day and the amount you should be consuming to lose fat and build muscle. Then you can use the calories in these recipes for easy tracking.

Playing in countless Pro-Ams while I was competing on the EPD Tour, Euro Pro Tour and some European Senior Events for 20 years, I noticed that the “ average” Club player with a Handicap of 20 something has no clue how to play a Golf course.

All they do is hitting balls, like on the Driving Range. That is why they never get better, respectively never break 90.

Confidence is your biggest asset on the golf course. Without it, you are lost.

Consistency is the “Holy Grail” of golf. Every serious golfer is chasing it, most (even professionals) fail.

But what is considered “consistent”?

Is hitting 60% of the fairways consistent? I don’t think so!

But this is the percentage, the average Tour Player hits the fairway (with Driver, Fairway Wood or long Iron)!
Nobody hits 80 % or more which could be considered of somehow consistent, when the misses are not in the trees or O.B.
So what about “confidence”?

Most golfer say: “I have to be more consistent, then I will have more confidence!”

I say, try it the other way around: when you address the ball and you are confident to hit the fairway, you will surely be very soon as consistent as possible!

While for the Tour Player a missed fairway is only a challenge, which is not affecting his confidence, the same missed tee shot is lowering and finally killing the confidence of a golf player with a higher handicap.

Conclusion: Use a club you are confident with, then you will be consistent soon.

I know, everybody wants to hit it longer and straighter. This is something Club golfers have in common with PGA Tour Pros. The average driving distance on the PGA Tour is 291,7 yards. The driving accuracy averages at 59,46 %.

For me its always funny, when I read statements of guys who bought this or that program and now they averaging 300 yards and hit 12 fairways and more. Why are they not playing on any tour and make a lot of money!

That hitting it over 300 yards is not necessary for an exceptional score shows Jim Furyk. He averages 270 yards of the tee and has a 59 and lately a 58 to his name!

None of the long hitters can claim that, not even Tiger in his best days.

That hitting the ball longer is most likely not the cure for your game when you still shoot around 95 shows a test I do with my new students.

The golfers who come to attend my course “breaking 90” usually have handicaps from 30 to 22.

We play 9 holes on one of the Championship courses here in Marbella. We hit the drives, then they finish my ball, I finish theirs. Mostly I still make Par or a couple over from all kind of bad lies while not one of my students in 15 years played better than 10 over for 9 holes. Despite hitting it always from the fairway, about 260 yards off the tee.

You can try it yourself. Place a ball about 250 yards off the tee and score from there.

We have to accept, that some people are different than others. If speed would be attained just by training enough, I think all sprinters would be as fast as Usein Bolt, because they train as hard as he does (at least most of them).

But they are not as fast and he is special.

Same in golf: To hit a golf ball 250+ yards, you have to have the physical ability. To a certain point it can be practiced, the rest you are born with.

Example? Luck Donald, Nr. 1 in the world a few years ago. He averages 276,2 yards off the tee, hitting 60,71% of the fairways. If it would be possible for him to gain 30 yards on his drive, believe me he would. He’s got the talent, the time and the money.

So Donald reaching No 1 in the world without hitting monster tee shots and Furyk winning Majors and shooting 59 and 58 in a PGA Tournament.

That should be proof enough that hitting long is nice but not necessary.

But a good short game is.

As much as hitting long depends on your age and physical constitution, CHIPPING and PUTTING requires none of it. Just proper practice.

And any glimmer of excitement that I had had for getting my cast off was instantly shot down by what I was now looking at.

As I hobbled down the hallways of the hospital I felt like an alien. Everyone was looking at me and I felt more self-conscious than ever.

Things only got worse when I made my way outside into the “real world”.

My mom was at work so I had to take the bus back home…

I slowly made my way onto the bus and grabbed a seat. I sat there for the next 30 minutes feeling embarrassed, as strangers stared at my leg as if it were from another planet.

That night, I was in my room doing some rehab exercises, when my mom walked in holding the phone in her hand…

My girlfriend had called to see how I was doing…or so I thought.

But I was quickly blindsided as she told me it would be best if we were “just friends”.

3 months ago, my leg was broken. Now, my heart was.

To make matters worse, I then found out from a friend that she had left me for another guy who was more “her type”.

And oddly enough this “other guy” had something I deeply wanted (other than my now ex-girlfriend). I’ll tell you what that was in a second…

Yet, I had to keep moving forward and get my leg back into shape so I could look and function normally again.

I was introduced to a personal trainer, named Brian, who specialized in rehabilitation. For the first time in my life, I was introduced to a “gym” and how to workout.

Up until this point, I had been active playing lots of soccer yet I had never set foot in a gym.

“It’s like tying your shoes – if you tie the knot without first tightening the laces, then your feet won’t be properly supported. And if you do any activity like that then you’re a ticking time bomb for a foot or ankle injury.”

I never thought of it that way.

And with that, Brian went on to show me how to do each exercise properly – by first activating my muscles appropriately – and then executing the movement.

It normally takes about 6 months (post cast removal) for most broken legs to fully regain their original muscle and strength…

Using what I had learned from Brian, my leg was back to normal in just 3 months!
